Pediatric Safety and CPR
This infant and child safety class is designed for parents and caregivers of babies and young children. Our certified instructor will teach you preventative safety strategies as well as how to perform CPR on an infant or child.
Have you ever stopped to consider the world view of a crawling child? Wondered what has captured their interest from their perspective? Could it be a candy or maybe a drug instead? Or maybe it is an exciting (but potentially dangerous) obstacle to climb? Perhaps you are now wondering what you can do as a parent or caretaker to provide safety in daily living, what steps you can take to prevent injuries to your family, or even what you should do while waiting on 911 in the event of life threatening emergency… This class will cover all of these questions and more!
Providing a safe environment for our children is just as important as preparing for the unthinkable (drowning, fires, poisoning, and other accidents). This class is a combination of helpful safety tips and rescue procedures. You will learn vital aspects of home safety for the kitchen, bedroom, dining room, bathroom, and living areas of your home as well as for outside activities. You will also receive training in emergency recognition and action. There will be skill training in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and in using an AED (automated external defibrillator), and you will also learn how to help a choking victim. You will even have the opportunity of receiving a certification in these skills! By the end of this interactive class, you’ll have a solid understanding of how you can make your home a more enjoyable and relaxed place to live safely with your family.
Our instructor has experience in the field of Fire-Rescue and she has been teaching Safety Courses for over 35 years. The fee for this 2 hour class is $40 per person or $60 per couple. If you wish to obtain a Heartsaver certification card, you may purchase one for an additional $20. Space is limited to four couples per class and prepayment is required to reserve your seat and materials. This class is held every other month.
