Natural Family Planning

Learn more about how your cycle works and how it can work for you!  Polk County’s only Natural Family Planning instructor, Elizabeth Tompkins with Little Maria FertilityCare Center, is your local resource for the Creighton Model FertilityCare System.  This system, which is a standardized modification of the Billings ovulation method, provides a natural choice for achieving pregnancy, avoiding pregnancy, and improving procreative wellness.

With the FertilityCare System, you’ll learn how to identify your fertile and infertile days by observing and tracking the physical signs your body exhibits during your menstrual cycle.  The signs you will be observing identify ovulation and other key events as well as indicate whether your reproductive system is functioning normally.  This information can then be used to plan or avoid a pregnancy.  With perfect use, this system has a 99.6% degree of effectiveness to avoid pregnancy and a very high degree of accuracy in achieving pregnancy, as per a meta-analysis of five effectiveness studies published in the “Journal of Reproductive Medicine.”

The biological markers that are monitored in the use of this system are the same utilized by practitioners of NaPro Technology (Natural Procreative Technology).  With the science behind NaPro Technology, a wide variety of issues are addressed, such as infertility, ovarian cysts, premenstrual syndrome, irregular or abnormal bleeding, polycystic ovarian disease, repetitive miscarriage, hormonal abnormalities, and postpartum depression.  If it is determined that you are dealing with these or other issues related to the reproductive system, the signs you’ve observed and tracked with the FertilityCare system will help your care provider in reaching a resolution.

The introductory session is FREE and a great opportunity to learn more about how the FertilityCare system works and whether it is right for you.  If you decide to continue with the program beyond the Introductory Session, there will be a cost of $30 for materials.  Follow-up sessions are provided as needed and by donation.  Contact Elizabeth directly for more information and to schedule.
